The best soft frozen custard and hard ice cream – on the shore, off the shore, anywhere – is Kohr’s.
At Kohr’s ice cream stands on the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights, the soft frozen custard served up
in napkin-wrapped cones has been a summertime tradition since 1923.
Elton D. Kohr, started his company in York, Pennsylvania, in 1918.
He invented the soft ice cream that sells today.
Today, as in 1919, Kohr?s Frozen Custard, The Original is the soft-serve frozen custard of 10
percent milk fat, and the hard ice cream is 14 percent milk fat. The Kohrs have never been one to trim the fat.
